We made a daytrip to Tibirke bakker in northern Sealand in February 2021. Tibirke bakker (“hills”) are the tallest hills in this part of Denmark. It is part of Tisvilde, an area with expensive summerhouses that has been popular among since thearly 1900’s, when artists were drawn to the area.
We had not been in the area before, and went there as part of our project to visit the mountains of Denmark.
The highest peak is simply called Udsigten (the view point). It deserves the name, there is a great view towards Arresø and to the sea. We went on a winter day that followed a cold period, and Arresø was frozen. We could see ice carts on the lake.
Tibirke bakker is on privately owned land. The trails are open to the public, and there are small hand-painted signs that show the way to Udsigten.
There are many other hills in the area that can be visited on a daytrip to Tibirke bakker in northern Sealand. Not all of them have names.
